The history of Reaxis Inc. dates back to 1965 when Pitt Processing and Manufacturing Company, later known as Pitt Metals and Chemicals, Inc. (PMC), purchased the current property. PMC initiated the manufacture of inorganic tin compounds in the 1970s.
In 1993 Th. Goldschmidt AG of Essen, Germany bought all of PMC's Property, Plant and Equipment and continued operations as Goldschmidt Industrial Chemical Corporation (GICC). GICC Parent, Th. Goldschmidt AG, was subsequently acquired by Viag AG and integrated with SKW Trostberg (now part of Evonik Industries AG) in 1997. In 2006, GICC became an independent company, fully owned by management. The company name was officially changed to Reaxis Inc. in 2008.
Headquartered in McDonald, PA, Reaxis manufactures an extensive range of products that are used in numerous industries including plastics, coatings (paints), elastomers, adhesives, sealants, personal care, hydrogen peroxide stabilization, oil/gas drilling applications, electronics and lubricants.
Reaxis supplies specialty chemicals to a large number of regional and global companies. Some of the larger customers include Arkema, BASF, Bayer, Bostik, Dow Chemical, Dow-Corning, Eastman Chemical, Evonik Industries, Henkel, KAO, L'Oreal, Momentive, NatureWorks, PPG, Sherwin Williams, and Wacker.
In order to meet the increasing demands of our customers and to further enhance our specialty chemical product portfolio, we have invested substantially in our R&D resources and expanded our capabilities by establishing a second manufacturing site and R&D lab at the University of Pittsburgh Applied Research Center (U-PARC) industrial complex in the northeast section of Pittsburgh.
